Call for public assistance - Assault Nightcliff

Police

Police have been conducting investigations into the assault of a woman on the foreshore earlier this month and are now calling for public assistance.

At about 9:00pm on February 8, a 43-year-old woman was walking her dog along Casuarina Drive with her sister when she was assaulted by an unknown man. The man is believed to have approached the woman and asked her to buy him alcohol before becoming agitated when she refused. The offender then assaulted the woman by hitting her in the face with a bottle and punching her before fleeing the scene on foot.

The victim reported the incident to Police and attended RDH the following day.

Casuarina Police are currently investigating the incident and have been following a number leads, however, are now asking for assistance from the public.

CCTV footage from a nearby premise should become available to members today.

The offender is described as:

Of Aboriginal appearance with a dark complexion
Late 40's
Narrow elongated face, skinny sunken cheeks
Hair fairly gray on the sides but salt and pepper on top about 2 inches long frizzy
Has substantial scarring and marking to face like that from acne and age spots
Believed to have been wearing a dark button up collard shirt with dark coloured trousers or shorts at the time of the incident.


Police are calling for anyone who witnessed the assault or who has further information to contact them on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
