Drink driver on stolen scooter - Darwin

Police



Members were on foot patrol at approximately 2:40 am in the vicinity of Karama Primary School, when they observed a motor scooter with two riders being driven erratically along Livistonia Road and Koolinda Crescent.

Members pursued the scooter on foot and apprehended the man on Spathe Court. He was subjected to a roadside breath test to which he returned a positive result. He was arrested and taken back to the Darwin Police Station where he provided a formal Breath Analysis reading of 0.216 percent BAC.

Further inquires revealed the scooter had been stolen from a near by Karama residence, but this was yet to be discovered and reported to police. The scooter was returned to its owner yesterday.

The man was charged with:
Unlawful use of motor vehicle
Ride in a manner dangerous
Ride with high range BAC
Ride unlicensed
Ride without helmet
Carry pillion when not permitted
Carry pillion without helmet

He will appear in the Darwin Magistrates Court on 3 May 2011.
