Drug Operation Darwin

Police

Four men will face court in relation to drug offences after a three week long operation.

The Drug and Organised Crime Section has spent the last three weeks targeting cannabis cultivation and supply in the rural area.

Detectives conducted searches of four properties between 22 and 29 April in Herbert, Virginia and two in Acacia. As a result, a total of 105 cannabis plants, 621 grams of cannabis, a small amount of amphetamine and four hydroponics set ups were located and seized by Detectives.

Four men aged 37, 40, 41 and 53 have since been arrested in relation to the seizures and will face a number of charges in Darwin Magistrates Court later this month.

Superintendent Andrew Pusterla from the Drug and Organised Crime Section is happy with the outcome of the operation.

"This has been a successful operation with and will disrupt the supply of cannabis in the Darwin area."

"We have successfully taken a substantial amount of cannabis off of our streets and will continue to target drug offenders" he said.

Media note - A vision opportunity of the seized drugs and interview with Superintendent Andrew Pusterla will be available in the Commissioners Dining Room at the Peter McAulay Centre in Berrimah.

Media please gather out the front of PMC to be escorted inside at 1:30pm sharp.
