Call for Witnesses into Attempted Sexual Assault – Darwin

Police

Although Police have received a number of calls from the public in relation to an attempted sexual assault that occurred in Darwin’s CBD last week, Police continue to urge any other witnesses to come forward.

Between 12:00am - 1:00am on Tuesday 5 July, a 21-year-old female backpacker was attacked by an unknown male who attempted to sexually assault her.

It is alleged that the offender dragged the victim into a vacant block, situated on the corner of Cavenagh and Bennett Streets, where he attempted to sexually assault the victim.

He fled the scene after being scared away by a passing Police patrol.

The offender is described to be approximately 180 cm’s tall, athletic build, tanned skin and at the time of the offence had short trimmed dark blonde hair.

Police wish to speak to the male in the attached photo and also urge anyone that may recognise him, or who may have witnessed the incident, to contact them on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
