Stabbing arrest Tennant Creek

A 23-year-old woman will be appearing in Tennant Creek Court tomorrow following an assault that occurred in Tennant Creek on Saturday.

It is alleged the 23-year-old and her 24-year-old partner were on Paterson Street in Tennant Creek when an altercation occurred at around 9:10 pm.

Detective Sergeant Glenn Leafe of the Tennant Creek Investigation Unit said it is alleged that the woman produced a knife and stabbed the man.

“He received 17 puncture wounds to his body, 14 of those were to his back,” said Sergeant Leafe.

“Police attended and the man was taken to the Tennant Creek Hospital and later transferred to the Alice Springs Hospital.

“The woman was located at her home address the following morning and arrested.

“She was charged with aggravated assault and possess a controlled weapon at night and will appear in the Tennant Creek Court tomorrow.

“The 24-year-old male remains in a stable condition in the Alice Springs Hospital.

“Police investigations are continuing and Police encourage anyone with information to contact Tennant Creek Police.”
