Youth Charged for East Side Ram Raid

Police

Detectives in Alice Springs have arrested a 15 year-old youth after investigations into the unlawful damage and stealing of alcohol from the East Side Club on Undoolya Road.

Detective Sergeant Trent Abbott said that the Nissan Navara used in the crime was forensically tested and results led Police to arrest the youth yesterday morning.

“The vehicle was stolen sometime on Sunday night and has been linked to crimes committed on Undoolya Road and another at a service station on Laraptina Drive the same night.  Both businesses suffered damage and theft.

Detective Sergeant Abbott said Police believe a blackout in the town at the time of the offending was a contributing factor but reminded people to be aware of their security to prevent opportunistic theft.

“Unfortunately for the owner of the Nissan, his car was forcibly entered and the offenders have then found a spare key inside the car.”

The Youth has also been linked to the theft of other vehicles in the town in recent weeks.

He now faces charges including:

Aggravated Enter Building with Intent to Commit Offence (x2)

Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Motor Vehicle (x4)

Unlawful Damage Property (x6)

And Stealing (x3)

Investigations are ongoing to identify other offenders
