Police

A man will remain in the custody of Alice Springs Police until the weekend after he was arrested for breaching his parole conditions in Queensland.

Alice Springs Police arrested the 35-year-old who is wanted in Queensland for breaching parole conditions relating to a three year prison sentence for arson related charges.

A return to prison warrant for the arrest of the man was issued by Queensland Police (QPol) in 2010.

He was taken into NT Police custody on Tuesday where he was later placed before the court on the interstate warrant.

Senior Constable First Class Gavin Hopwood said the arrest highlighted good cross jurisdictional Police work.

“The arrest of this man is a good outcome for both NT Police and Queensland Police,” Senior Constable First Class Hopwood said.

“We provide as much help for our interstate colleagues as we can and they do the same for us.”

The man will be escorted back to Brisbane where he will be returned to prison.
