NT Police have charged a 46-year-old man with a string of offences, including indecent assault and supply liquor to children after he had allegedly been driving around Alice Springs picking up girls and asking them to have sex with him.

Sergeant Carmen Butcher from the Southern Child Abuse Taskforce said the man will face 35 charges.

“Police allege the man had been driving around Alice Springs in a vehicle picking the children up,” Sergeant Butcher said.

“Police allege the man had been driving young females around town at all hours of the day and night supplying them with food, cigarettes and alcohol.

“We also allege that the man was asking the girls for sex and showing them pornographic pictures and movies.”

Sergeant Butcher said the alleged incidents occurred this year.

“Police allege the man has carried out the acts over the past two months,” she said.

The man was charged with:

Indecent dealings with child under 16 (x6);

Indecent assault (x3);

Attempt to procure child under 16 for sex (x6), and;

Supply liquor to child (x20).

He was remanded in custody and will appear in Alice Springs Magistrates Court today.
