Two charged over baseball attack - Karama

Police

Serious Crime Squad Detectives have arrested and charged two people in relation to an alleged baseball attack at Karama last week.

Officer in Charge of the Serious Crime Squad Chris Board said two males, 23 and 16, were arrested yesterday.

“The two were arrested in relation to an attack that occurred on three people in Karama on 24 April at about 4pm,” Detective Acting Senior Sergeant Chris Board said.

“It appears the 16-year-old had a verbal altercation with one of the victims on Brazil Crescent, Karama.

“Police will allege the teen then went home and told his 23-year-old brother, who armed himself with a baseball bat. The pair returned to Brazil Crescent where they allegedly assaulted two people, resulting in one of the victims receiving a broken leg.

“Police executed a search warrant on a house in Karama yesterday and subsequently arrested the pair and also seized a baseball bat believed to have been used in the assault.

“Both males were charged with aggravated assault cause harm and going armed in public.”

They will both appear in Darwin Magistrates Court on 25, May 2012.
