Charges - Alleged sexual assault - Alice Springs

Alice Springs Police have charged a 17-year-old male with sexual assault following an incident which occurred early Wednesday morning. Another 17-year-old male has been arrested and is in Police custody this morning in relation to the sexual assault and the stolen car. He is yet to be interviewed or charged.

Detective Acting Superintendent Travis Wurst said Police have a dedicated team of detectives investigating the case and will continue working in an attempt to locate the other alleged offender, firearm and stolen vehicle.

“Members of the public can act as our eyes and ears in situations like this.  I believe the community may be actively hiding the last remaining person and I continue to urge anyone that may be able to provide any information relating to the whereabouts of the outstanding offender, the stolen car or the firearm, to contact Police on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000,” Detective A/Superintendent Wurst said.

The 17-year-old will be appearing in the Alice Springs Court this morning.
