Man Charged with Drink Driving, Driving Unlicensed - Alice Springs

Police yesterday charged a 39-year-old with drink driving and driving without a licence after he was allegedly caught behind the wheel with a blood alcohol content of 0.228 per cent.

Acting Sergeant Simon Hibben said the man was allegedly driving a Toyota Corolla east along Palm Circuit, Alice Springs, at around 2.15pm.

“When Police stopped the car, they found the driver was not licensed. He also smelled of alcohol. He allegedly returned a reading of 0.228 per cent,” Acting Sergeant Hibben said.

“When Police asked why he was driving the car after he’d been drinking, he allegedly told Officers he was going to the pub ‘to get more grog’.”

He was charged with:

Drive high range BRAC;

Drive a motor vehicle while unlicensed.

He was remanded in custody and will appear in Alice Springs Magistrates Court today.
