Seven Teens Escape Detention Centre Alice Springs

NT Police are seeking public assistance to find seven youths who escaped from the Alice Springs Juvenile Detention Centre.

Superintendent Delcene Jones said the seven teens escaped at around midnight last night.

“Kurt Campbell, 17, Francis Camphoo, 16, Matthew Jebydah, 17, Michael Jonston, 16, Shane Lovegrove, 16, Ian Pope, 17, and 14-year-old Victor Russell escaped from the facility last night,” Superintendent Jones said.

“Six of the teens were wearing orange t-shirts and grey tracksuit pants and one was wearing a green t-shirt and grey tracksuit pants

“A team including Tactical Response Officers, Traffic, General Duties, General Purpose Dogs and Investigators are searching for the seven. Officers from Strikeforce Sprint are assisting local Police.

“We are seeking assistance from the public to help locate these youths as quickly as possible. If any suspicious activity is noted, contact Police immediately on 131444.

“Members of the public are urged not to approach any suspicious individuals but to contact Police immediately.”

Any enquiries relating to the youths charges etc should be directed to the Department of Justice.
