A 29-year-old male is to appear in court in relation to a camera located in a shower block at Katherine Hot Springs in June.
Senior Constable Luke Hoolihan from the Northern Investigation Section said a French tourist located the camera at the unisex shower block and alerted local Police on Saturday 9 June 2012.
“Police conducted a search of all public amenities to ensure there were not more of these devices hidden,” Senior Constable Hoolihan said.
“Police executed a search warrant on a nearby premises and located four unsecured firearms, a large quantity of unsecured ammunition, fireworks and a quantity of prescription drugs.”
The 29-year-old man has been summonsed to appear in the Katherine Court at a later date to face the following charges:
- Install, use, maintain optical surveillance device
- Posses prohibited weapon
- Possess schedule 2 substance
- Fail to meet storage requirements
- Possess dangerous goods.
“This type of offending is of great concern to Police and the community as it is a serious invasion of people’s privacy. We have worked hard to see the arrest of this man” Senior Constable Hoolihan said.
