Northern Territory Police have charged a 49-year-old woman after she allegedly stabbed a man in Tennant Creek yesterday.

Superintendent Craig Barrett said Police allege the woman and a 43-year-old man had been drinking alcohol during the night and were involved in a verbal altercation before the assault at around 2:30am.

“After arguing with the man, the offender is alleged to have taken a knife from the kitchen and stabbed the man several times,” said Superintendent Barrett.

The man ran to the Tennant Creek Hospital for treatment to his injuries and Police were contacted by hospital staff. The man has since been flown to the Alice Springs Hospital where he remains in a stable condition.

The woman was arrested a short time later at a nearby camp and has been charged with recklessly endanger life and cause serious harm.
