Police

Strike Force Trident members have arrested three male youths, aged 12, 15 and 16, following a crime spree through the Northern Suburbs last week.

Detective Senior Sergeant Mark Stringer said the youths were arrested in relation to a number of offences, including unlawful entries in Wagaman, Casuarina, Nightcliff and Brinkin.

“It is believed the youths were involved in the robbery of a 37-year-old man in Wagaman on Sunday 3 March. The man was assaulted and had his $3,000 gold bracelet stolen,” Detective Senior Sergeant Stringer said.

“At around 2am Monday morning the youths are alleged to have unlawfully entered Woolworths in Casuarina and stole a hammer and other property.

“They have also been charged for allegedly unlawful entering the Nightcliff Sports Club, twice on the same night (Thursday 7 March) and for stealing up to $300 worth of alcohol.

“Whilst walking around Nightcliff on the same night, the youths allegedly damaged three vehicles, a Hyundai Excel, a Toyota Corolla and a Holden Commodore, by smashing windows and damaging panels with a metal pole.

“Around 6:30am that morning, the youths are alleged to have attended Charles Darwin University.  They have thrown rocks and smashed a number of classroom windows.  A security officer attended the scene and rocks thrown at his vehicle. The man remained in the vehicle as one of the youths jumped onto the bonnet, and stomped his feet in an attempt to smash the windscreen.

“Strike Force Trident members attended a residence in Nightcliff on Friday 8 March and located all three youths.”

We won’t tolerate groups of young thugs running around terrorizing the community like this.”
