Eight in Custody Following Ram-Raid

Police have arrested eight juveniles in relation to a ram-raid incident in Howard Springs this morning.

Detective Senior Sergeant Mark Stringer said the eight were apprehended in Palmerston after a crash in Vernier Circuit, Woodroffe was reported to Police around 6am this morning.

“Witnesses have said all occupants of the vehicle had run away after the crash and attending Police were able to link the vehicle to the earlier theft of alcohol in Howard Springs.

“The Mazda Tribune was reported stolen from Alawa sometime after 7pm yesterday evening.”

Detective Senior Sergeant Stringer said that the tavern in Howard Springs had been unlawfully entered after the same vehicle was used to ram the roller doors of the take-away bottle shop around 4.30am.

“The offenders have entered through the damaged door and taken several items before leaving the scene in the car.

“Several bottles suspected to have been stolen during the unlawful entry were found in the crashed vehicle.

“Police were able to quickly track down the alleged offenders thanks to some very astute observations by members of the public and we thank them for their assistance.”

The juveniles, a 17 year-old female, two 14 year-old males, three 13 year-old females and two 13 year-old males  are currently assisting Police with their inquiries.
