Call for witnesses - Alice Springs

Police

Police are requesting public assistance after four vehicles had rocks thrown at them overnight in Alice Springs.

Superintendent Catherine Bennett said the four incidents were reported to Police and had occurred within ten minutes of each other between Stott Terrace Bridge and Tuncks Causeway.

“The victims all reported the incidents as soon as they were able. Police patrols were quickly on the scene but there were no suspects in the vicinity.”

Superintendent Bennett said two cars, a taxi and a bus were targeted between 10pm and 10:10pm.

“The drivers did not notice anything until their vehicles were struck.  This is incredibly dangerous behaviour by the individuals concerned and Police are asking anyone who was in the area or has noticed anyone acting in a suspicious manner to contact them.

“We are asking the whole community to send a message to these offenders that this is unacceptable behaviour.  Someone will be seriously hurt or even killed by this thoughtless action and Police will be taking every report very seriously.”

Anyone with information is urged to contact Police on 131 444 or call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
