Operation Sitara

Police

It is anticipated the outlaw motorcycle gang ‘Hell’s Angels’ will be conducting their annual run in Darwin tomorrow. Police wish to inform the public there may be large groups of motorcycles with support vehicles causing some delays on the roads as they make their way around Darwin and the rural area.

Members of the public are asked to obey any traffic direction issued by Police during this event.

Commander Wayne Harris, OIC of Operation Sitara, said Northern Territory Police have been monitoring the arrival of the Hells Angels outlaw motorcycle gang members into Darwin over the past few days.

“Outlaw motorcycle gangs have a history of serious criminal activity and the NT Police make no excuses for observing the movements of these members as they conduct their annual run in the Top End.

“This is a preventative exercise aimed directly at letting this OMCG know that any criminal or anti-social behaviour will not be tolerated.

“As part of the crack-down on Outlaw Motorcycle Gang Members, Liquor Licensing laws have been modified. Licensed venues won’t permit entry to anyone wearing colours or insignia related to any known OMCG,” Commander Harris said.

Police estimate up to 200 Hells Angels members could take part in the run.
