Alleged offender extradited from QLD

Serious Crime Detectives are extraditing a 22-year-old man today, believed to have been involved in a serious assault in Karama.

Detective Senior Sergeant Chris Board said the man is alleged to have been involved in an unlawful entry and serious assault at a home on Manunda Terrace 22 November, 2011.

“It will be alleged he entered the home through an unlocked front door at around 1:45am, waking up one of the male occupants as he entered a bedroom.

“Two male occupants, aged 20 and 24 ran after the offender as he left the house. It was at this time a group of young men confronted the residents and the 24-year-old male was seriously assaulted receiving head and leg injuries.

“Detectives from the Serious Crime Squad and Queensland Detectives have been working together to locate the 22-year-old man, resulting in his arrest north of Brisbane on Tuesday.  

He was remanded in custody and will be flown back to Darwin today, where he will be formally charged with unlawfully cause serious harm and unlawfully enter a dwelling at night.
