Police

Police have arrested more than 80 people during the first two months of an operation targeting property offenders in Alice Springs.

Detective Senior Sergeant Peter Malley said members of Strike Force Vega have made 87 arrests in relation to 279 offences and have executed 18 warrants of apprehension.

“A further 23 summons have been issued and six search warrants have been executed.

“During this time Police have maintained a high frequency of bail checks and regularly patrol property crime hotspots.

“This is an ongoing operation and Police are committed to enhancing community confidence by reducing the incidents of property related crime.

“Members of the community can also help by ensuring your house and vehicles are locked and store your car keys and valuable items in a safe place. Downloading applications like find my iPhone and iPad can also be useful in the recovery of stolen property.

“I continue to encourage members of the public to report any suspicious behaviour to Police on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.”
