Charges – Unlawful Entry - Brinkin

A 26-year-old man from New South Wales will appear in the Alice Springs Magistrates Court today, for his alleged involvement in an unlawful entry in Brinkin on 9 April.

Detective Acting Superintendent Chris Board said the man is alleged to have unlawfully entered a home on Omeo Street and assaulted an occupant with a metal pole.

“The man allegedly entered the home and was confronted by the occupants. It is alleged he struck a 20-year-old male to the head and torso with a metal pole and fled the house into an awaiting vehicle,” Detective A/Superintendent Board said.

“Serious Crime Squad Detectives have worked tirelessly on this investigation and have executed numerous search warrants in Darwin and Tennant Creek, resulting in the seizure of evidence and the arrest of the principal offender.

The man was arrested and charged with aggravated unlawful entry, assault with intent to steal/cause harm and assault (x3).

He was remanded in custody to appear in court this afternoon.
