The NT road toll has risen to eight following the death of a 74-year-old Palmerston man last night.
Detective Acting Senior Sergeant John Worrall of the Major Crash Investigation Section said it appears the man was walking outbound along Roystonea Avenue at around 8:30pm when the incident occurred.
“It appears the Toyota Prado, driven by a 28-year-old man, was travelling inbound when the pedestrian was struck,” Detective Acting Senior Sergeant Worrall said.
“Police and St John Ambulance members attended the scene and the conveyed the victim to Hospital, however he died a short time later.
“The intersection of Terry Drive and Roystonea Avenue was blocked off for some time as investigators processed the scene.
“The roads have been reopened.”
Investigations into the exact circumstances surrounding the crash are ongoing, and a file will be prepared for the Coroner.
The road toll for the same time last year was 10.
