Stealing with Violence Charges - Casuarina

Police

Members from Strike Force Trident have charged two men aged 18 and 20 in relation to a stealing with violence incident at Casuarina.

Detective Senior Sergeant Mark Stringer said the 20-year-old allegedly entered the Liquorland store at Casuarina Village and stole several bottles of whiskey on 24 April.

“A 27-year-old male employee confronted the alleged offender. It is alleged the offender has punched him to the face and ran from the store with three bottles of whiskey. It’s alleged an 18-year-old man drove the offender away from the scene.”

Members from Strike Force Trident executed a search warrant at a residence in Tiwi yesterday arresting the two men and seizing a small amount of cannabis.

“We are very happy to get these guys locked up. It’s concerning to us the brazenness of this person to walk into a store, steal property and use violence against a staff member doing their job,” Detective Senior Sergeant Stringer said.

The 20-year-old was charged with robbery and possession of cannabis and was remanded in custody. He will appear in the Darwin Magistrates Court today.

The 18-year-old has been charged with accessory after the fact to robbery and bailed to appear in court at a later date.
