Youth Arrested for $60,000 Crime Spree - Darwin

Members from Strike Force Trident have charged a 13-year-old male in relation to a range of unlawful entry and motor vehicle offences.

Detective Senior Sergeant Mark Stringer said the offender allegedly entered a residence in Nakara and stole a mobile phone, $3,000 worth of jewellery and a small amount of cash on 10 May.

“The offender has then allegedly entered a business in Wagaman and stole a sum of cash and laptop on 13 May.

“Police also alleged the 13-year-old was involved in the unlawful entry of a residence in Nakara and theft of two vehicles and the theft of a third vehicle at the Mindil Beach Markets on 9 May.

“The youth was arrested yesterday at Casuarina Shopping Centre after breaching a trespass order. Police located and seized a small amount of cash, jewellery and a small amount of cannabis.”

He has been charged with a number of offences including:

Stealing (x4)

Trespass on premises (x4)

Unlawful use of motor vehicle (x3)

Aggravated enter dwelling with intent to commit offence (x3)

Drive motor vehicle while unlicensed (x2)

Possess cannabis in a public place.

He will appear in the Darwin Youth Justice Court tomorrow.

“This young man has managed to steal around $60,000 worth of cash and property in a short space of time, we’ve recovered around $30,000 worth of it,” Detective Senior Sergeant Mark Stringer said.
