Arrest over child abuse material

Police

Detectives from the Sex Crimes Division have arrested a 56 year-old man following the execution of a search warrant in Palmerston that allegedly uncovered child abuse material.

Detective Senior Constable Corey Borton said desktop computers, laptops, tablet devices and mobile phones were seized from the house during the search.

“Police will allege the man had been downloading child abuse material from the internet for several months.

“The Online Child Exploitation Investigation Unit will continue to pursue anyone who uses the internet to exploit children with every resource at our disposal.”

The man has been charged with the possession of child abuse material and was bailed to appear in the Darwin Magistrates Court on June 3.
