Alleged Brick Thrower Charged – Alice Springs

Police

A 19-year-old male is to appear in the Alice Springs Magistrates Court today, following a brick throwing incident in Alice Springs.

Detective Senior Sergeant Peter Malley said a 24-year-old woman was driving a Toyota Corolla down Undoolya Road at around 9:45pm on Friday night when the incident occurred.

“It is alleged the 19-year-old male threw a house brick at the passing vehicle, causing considerable damage to the bonnet,” Detective Senior Sergeant Malley.

“The man attempted to flee the scene, however was apprehended by two passing off duty Police Officers who witnessed the incident.

“Members from Strike Force Vega attended the scene and arrested the man. He was charged with recklessly endanger life – cause serious harm, endanger occupant of a vehicle and armed with an offensive weapon and was remanded in custody.

“This kind of behaviour is unacceptable. This one idiotic act could have cost this woman and her passenger their lives.”
