Stealing Investigation - Darwin City

Police are investigating a stealing incident which occurred at a bank on Smith Street earlier today.

Superintendent Kris Evans said Police received a report that a quantity of cash was stolen from the establishment at around 9:00 this morning.

“It is alleged a man, described as a Caucasian male aged in the mid twenties to thirties and wearing a black t-shirt with a white motif on the front entered the bank and stole a sum of money before fleeing the area.

“Investigations into the exact circumstances surrounding the incident are underway.

“This incident is not a robbery. The crime of robbery is associated with an element of violence. There was no violence involved in this incident.

“We are currently reviewing CCTV in an attempt to identify the offender and I urge anyone who may have witnessed the incident, to contact Police on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.”
