Vehicle Fire - Alice Springs

Members from the Southern Investigation Division are investigating a vehicle fire in Alice Springs last night.

Detective Senior Sergeant Peter Malley said Police received reports of a man allegedly throwing petrol from a jerry can and attempting to set fire to a fence near the Todd Tavern at around 8pm.

“A short time later Police responded to reports of a car fire near the intersection of Leichhardt Terrace and Parson Street. Fire and Emergency Services extinguished the fire however the vehicle sustained significant damage to the bonnet and grill.

“The offender is described to be a man of Aboriginal appearance approximately 180cm tall, medium to solid build and short hair. He was wearing a dark blue hoodie and jeans.”
