An 18-year-old man will appear in the Alice Springs Magistrates Court today, in relation to an alleged stealing incident in Alice Springs.

Detective Senior Sergeant Peter Malley said the offender allegedly approached a woman in the Todd Street Mall, stole her handbag and ran from the area at around 9:30pm last night.

“Members from Strike Force Vega located and arrested the alleged offender a short time later and recovered the stolen property.”

He was charged with stealing and breach of bail and remanded in custody.
