A 17-year-old male youth will appear in Darwin Youth Justice Court today in relation to an alleged unlawful entry and stealing incident.

Detective Senior Sergeant Mark Stringer from Strike Force Trident said the youth unlawfully entered a residence in Moil and allegedly stole jewellery and a small amount of money on 13 June.

“While the youth was inside the residence he plugged his mobile phone into a power socket in order for it to charge. He has then left the premises and neglected to take his phone with him.

“The youth returned to the residence a short time later to retrieve his phone and was confronted by the owners. The youth was arrested still in possession of the stolen property. I’ve seen some stupidity in my time but this one is up there with the best of them.”

He was charged with aggravated unlawful entry, stealing and property damage.
