Drug and Corruption Charges - Darwin

Police

A taskforce of Northern Territory Police Detectives from the Crime Command have arrested a number of persons in relation to range of drug and corruption offences.

Commander Richard Bryson of the Crime Command said a special taskforce had been instigated to investigate drug offences, official corruption and unlawful disclosure of confidential information. 

The taskforce successfully affected a series of arrests in the Darwin area yesterday.

A 24-year-old female Northern Territory Prison Officer has been remanded in custody charged with;

  • Official Corruption
  • Abuse of Office
  • Attempt to pervert the course of Justice
  • Unlawfully obtaining confidential information
  • Disclosure of official secrets
  • Unlawful access to data x 3
  • Without Permission of the Director, communicate or attempt to communicate with a prisoner
  • Administer dangerous drug to self
  • Possess implement to administer dangerous drug
  • Possess schedule 2 dangerous drug x 3
  • Supply schedule 2 dangerous drug x 3
  • Possess a Poison
  • Unlawful import a border controlled substance
  • Criminal Deception

A 35-year-old male has been remanded in custody charged with;

  • Official Corruption
  • Unlawful Access to Data
  • Unlawfully obtaining confidential information
  • Disclosure of Official Secrets
  • Possess Schedule 2 substance x 2
  • Supply a Schedule 2 substance x 2

A 28-year-old male Northern Territory Prison Officer has been charged with;

  • Unlawfully access data in computer
  • Disclosure of official secrets

 A 22-year-old female Northern Territory Correctional Services employee has been charged with;

  • Unlawfully access data in computer
  • Possess MDMA
  • Supply a dangerous drug 

A 45-year-old Northern Territory Fire and Rescue Service Officer has been charged with;

  • Unlawfully import border controlled substance
  • Possess a poison - Trafficable Schedule 2

 A 44-year-old male Northern Territory Police Officer has been charged with;

  • Unlawfully access data
  • Communication of Information
  • Disclosure of Official Secrets
  • Unlawfully obtain confidential information

 The 44-year-old Northern Territory Police Officer has been suspended from duty.

All parties will now face the Court of Summary Jurisdiction.
