Kava Seized - Nhulunbuy

Nhulunbuy Police have charged two women, aged 39 and 65, with supplying a trafficable quantity of Kava.

Senior Sergeant Brendan Muldoon said the alleged offenders were intercepted by Police after arriving at Nhulunbuy Airport last night.

“Police searched baggage allegedly belonging to the two women and located over 20 kilograms of Kava in four suitcases.

“Police estimate the value of Kava could have fetched $20,000 if sold in remote communities.”

Both women have been bailed to appear in Nhulunbuy Magistrates Court on 2 July.
