Clearance Divers from the Territory Response Group have recovered a body from the waterhole at Jim Jim Falls in the Kakadu National Park.

The 42-year-old Victorian man went missing, suspected to have drowned at the location at approximately 2.00pm yesterday.

Officer-in-Charge of Jabiru Police Station A/Sergeant Dave Taylor said the body had been recovered in the water and had now been formally identified as the missing man.

“Divers from the Territory Response Group located the missing mans body in approximately six metres of water earlier today.

“The man’s next of kin have been notified and are understandably very distraught. Our thoughts are with the family during this very difficult time.

“There are no suspicious circumstances surrounding this very sad event, and Police would like to thank Kakadu Rangers for their assistance during this difficult search operation.”

Police will now prepare a report for the Coroner.
