Drug and Organised Crime Detectives have arrested a 58 year-old male in relation to the seizure of approximately 12.5 kilograms of cannabis.

Detective Acting Superintendent Peter Schiller said Police executed a search warrant at a Bayview residence yesterday afternoon and allegedly found 24 packages containing the drugs.

“Each package had been individually wrapped in silver and black packing tape with a collective weight exceeding 12 kilograms.

“Several other items including an electric cryovac machine, empty cryovac bags and digital scales were also seized.”

Detective Acting Superintendent Schiller said the man was charged with possessing a commercial quantity of cannabis and supplying cannabis.

He was refused bail and will appear in the Darwin Magistrates Court this morning.
