Stolen Motor Vehicle – Alice Springs

Alice Springs Police have arrested four youths and an adult male after they allegedly stole a motor vehicle in Palmerston.

Detective Superintendent Brent Warren said offenders allegedly stole a Daewoo Nubira from a residence in Driver on Wednesday 10 July.

“Police allege the offenders drove to Tennant Creek and stole around $50 worth of petrol from a service station, before heading south towards Alice Springs.

“Police in Ti Tree attempted to apprehend the stolen vehicle as it travelled south towards Alice Springs; however the driver disregarded Police directions to stop, deliberately drove on the wrong side of the road and continued heading south.

“Police arrested five alleged offenders in Alice Springs CBD last night.”

“Four males aged 16, 18 and two aged 14, and a 16-year-old female are expected to be charged shortly with various offences including:

unlawful entry, stealing, unlawful use of a motor vehicle, unlawful damage, drive unlicensed, drive in manner speed dangerous and fail to stop for Police.

“Police continue to search for a 16-year-old male, who fled from Police when the other five were arrested. He is wanted for offences including breach of bail and his alleged part in the unlawful use of a motor vehicle (x2), unlawful damage and stealing."
