Police are calling on assistance from the public following an assault at a hotel in Tennant Creek yesterday evening.

Detective Sergeant Andy Bedwell from the Tennant Creek Investigation Unit said it is alleged the 30-year-old female victim was entering her room on Paterson Street at around 6:00pm when she was approached from behind.

“The man allegedly assaulted the woman and fled the scene on foot when people came to her aid,” Detective Sergeant Bedwell said.

“The alleged offender is described to be a male of Aboriginal appearance and at the time was wearing dark pants or shorts, a light coloured hoody with dark horizontal stripes and a blue cap.

“I urge anyone who may have seen a man matching this description, or who may have witnessed the incident, to contact Police on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.”
