A 32-year-old woman is to appear in the Maningrida Local Court following a cannabis seizure at the Darwin Airport.

Senior Sergeant Peter Schiller of the Drug and Organised Crime Squad said members from the Dog Operations Unit attended the airport yesterday to conduct baggage checks on passengers travelling to remote communities.

“Drug Detector Dog ‘Plato’ provided a positive response to the luggage of a 32-year-old woman, who was attempting to board a flight,” Senior Sergeant Schiller said.

“Members searched the woman’s bags and located approximately 280 grams of cannabis, concealed in two baby wipe containers.

“The woman was charged with possess cannabis - trafficable quantity and unlawfully supply cannabis and was bailed to appear in court at Maningrida next month.”
