Detectives from the Serious Crime Squad are investigating an assault that occurred at a unit complex in Parap last night.

Detective Acting Senior Sergeant Matt Allen said a 30-year-old woman had returned home to her unit complex on Mackillop Street at around 10pm when she was approached by an unknown man.

“The offender has then followed her into the lift on the ground floor and allegedly punched her several times to the head. The offender then stole her handbag and fled on foot.

“He is described as being of Aboriginal appearance, shoulder length black ‘fuzzy’ hair, early 20’s, thin build and approximately 155cm tall. He was wearing a black shirt and black pants.”
