Unlawful Entries Down in Alice Springs

Police

The dedicated and hard work of Alice Springs Police has resulted in the lowest number of unlawful entries for August in four years.

Detective Superintendent Brent Warren said there were 38 unlawful entries reported last month. It is great to see this downward trend in unlawful entries and it is a testament to the hard work by Alice Springs Police who are focussed on reducing property crime.

“Property crime Investigators in Strike Force Vega have worked closely with Crime Scene Examiners to scrutinise every unlawful entry, using forensic evidence and criminal intelligence to target the recidivist thieves responsible for most of this type of offending.

“Since commencement in February, Strike Force Vega Investigators have dealt with over 239 arrests and cleared over 1,000 offences. They will continue targeting those recidivist criminals who break into peoples homes and businesses and when arrested they will be placed before the court.

“Members of the community can also help by ensuring your house and vehicles are locked and store your car keys and valuable items in a safe place.

“I continue to encourage members of the public to report any suspicious behaviour to Police on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.”
