A 38-year-old male is to appear in Katherine Court today following a drug and alcohol seizure in Maranboy on Saturday.

Superintendent Daniel Bacon of the Arnhem and Western Division said Maranboy Police apprehended a Ford Falcon along the Central Arnhem Highway at around 10:20pm.

“A search was conducted, which located 24 litres of alcohol and a small quantity of cannabis,” Superintendent Bacon said.

“The 19-year-old male driver was issued with a Liquor Infringement Notice.

The 38-year-old male passenger was charged with:

Bring liquor into an alcohol protected area
Consume liquor in an alcohol protected area
Control liquor in an alcohol protected area
Supply dangerous drug in aboriginal community
Possess dangerous drug in a public place.

“Police will continue cracking down on this type of behaviour. Grog or drug runners, you have been warned!”
