Indecent Assault - Public Assistance Sought - Alice Springs

Detectives from the Southern Investigation Division are seeking public assistance in relation to the indecent assault of a 24-year-old woman on the weekend.

Detective Superintendent Brent Warren said the woman was walking along Kempe Street at around 6:30am on Saturday 14 September when she was approached from behind by an unknown man.

“The offender has proceeded to indecently assault the woman. Using self defence tactics the woman was able to escape.

“He is described as being of Aboriginal appearance, between 20-30 years old medium build, approximately 175cm tall with wavy black hair.

“He was wearing a dark blue t-shirt with white coloured writing, dark blue jeans with a rip on the right knee and skate shoes (possibly converse or vans).

“Police have identified three potential witnesses in CCTV footage and urge these people or anyone who may have witnessed this incident to contact Police on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.”
