A 28-year-old man has been charged with drug offences following a traffic apprehension in Minyerri last night.

Superintendent Daniel Bacon of Arnhem & Western Division said, Police apprehended the vehicle at around 11:30pm on Minyerri Access Road.

“Police conducted a search of the vehicle and located 313 grams of cannabis divided into 13 large clip seal bags which was concealed inside two larger plastic bags.

He has been charged with:

Possess schedule 2 drug – trafficable
Supply dangerous drug in community

He will appear in Katherine Magistrates Court on 5 November.

“Police will continue to target the individuals who profit from this kind of offending. If you intend to take cannabis or any illicit substances into remote communities, expect to be caught , ” Superintendent Bacon said.
