The NT road toll has risen to 31 following a fatal motorcycle crash which claimed the life of a 21-year-old man near Pine Creek yesterday.
Territory Duty Superintendent John Emeny said the incident, 10km from Pine Creek, was reported at around 2:00pm.
“It appears the 21-year-old was travelling with a group of friends along the Kakadu Highway when he lost control of his motorcycle around a sweeping bend and left the road,” Territory Duty Superintendent Emeny said.
“A Doctor in a passing tour bus rendered first aid, however, despite their best efforts, the man passed away at the scene.
“Investigations into the exact circumstances surrounding the crash are ongoing; however at this stage it appears driver inexperience may have been a contributing factor.”
A file is being prepared for the Coroner.
The road toll for the same time last year was 39.
