A 28-year-old man remains in a critical condition in hospital following a motorcycle crash in Nhulunbuy yesterday.

Senior Sergeant Brendan Muldoon said the man was travelling on a trail bike along Melville Bay Road at around 7pm when the incident occurred.

“It is believed the man was travelling outbound along the gravel shoulder of the road when he lost control of the bike and crashed near the Rainbow Cliff turnoff,” Senior Sergeant Muldoon said.

“Passers-by rendered assistance until St John Ambulance members arrived and conveyed the victim to Gove District Hospital.

“He was transported to Royal Darwin Hospital for further treatment.

“Police are investigating the exact circumstances surrounding the incident.”
