Police have seized 15 kilograms of kava at Gove Airport over the weekend.

Senior Sergeant Brendan Muldoon said a small suitcase was left on the baggage carousel on Saturday 19 October.

“Police seized the luggage and located inside 15 individual parcels wrapped in newspaper and plastic.

“Police estimate that if the kava was sold in East Arnhem it could have fetched $15,000.”

“Police will continue to target people bringing kava into the Northern Territory which cause so much harm to Indigenous communities.”
