Alleged Attempted Abduction - Woodroffe

Police

Northern Territory Police have taken a 33 year-old man into custody in relation to an alleged attempted abduction in Woodroffe yesterday afternoon.

Detective Acting Senior Sergeant Karen Sanderson from the Sex Crimes Squad said Police were continuing to investigate the incident.

“A ten year-old child walking home along Woodroffe Avenue at around 3.00pm has told Detectives she was approached by a man in a vehicle.

“The child ran to a friends place before contacting Police.”

Detective Senior Sergeant Sanderson said Police would like to talk to anyone who may have seen a black or dark coloured small car in the vicinity of Woodroffe and Zenith Circuit between 2.30 and 3.30pm yesterday.

“We would also like to ask parents of children who may have been walking home in that area if they may have noticed the car, possibly parked or stationary or any people loitering in the area.

“Police would also like to take this opportunity to encourage all parents across the Territory to sit down with their children and remind them of the four ‘R’s:

Recognise the danger

Refuse any offer

Run away

Report it to the first adult they trust.”
