Alcohol Bound for Remote Community Seized - Darwin

Police

Four men received Liquor Infringement Notices following an alcohol seizure at the Darwin Airport.

Sergeant Mark Malogorski of the Drug and Organised Crime Squad said on Friday members from the Remote Community Drug Desk were conducting luggage searches on people travelling from Darwin to remote communities.

“During the search, members located a large quantity of alcohol, which included beer, rum, bourbon, Southern Comfort and mixed drinks,” Sergeant Malogorski said.

“The alcohol, which was believed to have been destined for Melville Island, was seized and destroyed.

“The supply of alcohol and drugs into remote communities is not only illegally, but extremely harmful and Police will continue targeting these offenders.”
