Strike Force Vega Arrest Five - Alice Springs

Detectives from Strike Force Vega have arrested five people in relation to a series of property offences committed across Alice Springs over the last few days.

Detective Superintendent Brent Warren said offenders unlawfully entered a residence in Gillen over the weekend and stole a Ford Falcon utility.

“Police subsequently arrested two males and aged 15 and 55, and a female aged 22. The stolen vehicle was located parked outside the home of one of the suspects”.

All three have been charged with unlawful use of motor vehicle.

“In a separate incident Police will allege two offenders unlawfully entered a residence in Araluen and stole a laptop computer and Toyota Camry early Wednesday morning.

“The offenders drove to a service station on the North Stuart Highway and unlawfully entered the premises, causing $10,000 damage to property before stealing food, drinks and clothing from inside.

“Police recovered the stolen vehicle near Emily Gap and two males aged 14 and 17 years were arrested and charged with:

Stealing (x2)

Aggravated unlawful use of a motor vehicle (x2)

Unlawfully damage property (x2)

Aggravated unlawful entry of a dwelling with intent

Aggravated unlawful entry of a building.

“Police will continue to take a zero tolerance approach to this kind of mindless criminal behaviour, ensuring that offenders are arrested and placed before the court.”
