Suspicious Person Alice Springs

Northern Territory Police are investigating an incident which occurred in Alice Springs yesterday morning.

Detective Superintendent Brent Warren said it is alleged a male approached a 17-year-old female as she walked to school along Raggatt Street at around 9:30am.

“The female told Police she observed a 1990s Toyota Corolla sedan, purple/maroon in colour drive past her.

“The driver stopped the vehicle, got out and faced the youth as she walked past. The youth began to run away and the male has given chase all the way to the end of the street before turning around and returning to his vehicle.

“The youth told Detectives she observed the same vehicle drive past her again on Grevillea Drive as she continued to walk to school and she reported the matter to Police.”

Detective Superintendent Warren said Police would like to talk to anyone who may have seen a 1990s Toyota Corolla sedan purple/maroon in colour in the vicinity of Raggatt Street, Undoolya Road and Grevillea Drive between 9 and 10am yesterday. The male is described as being approximately 182cm tall, Caucasian in appearance, around 30 years of age, thin build with a receding hair line. He was described as wearing a black short sleeved t-shirt and blue jeans.

“High visibility Police patrols have been conducted around the secondary school and door knocks have been completed of the Raggatt Street area of 'Old Eastside'.

“The behaviour is concerning and Police would like to speak with anyone who may have information about the incident. Contact Police on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.”
