Three Charged Following Ti Tree Unrest

Northern Territory Police have charged three men with arson after five cars were destroyed on the Ti Tree Outstation in the early hours of 12 November.

Superintendent Don Fry said the three were arrested after combined investigations.

“Local Police, Southern Investigations and Officers from Alice Springs responded to the incident and have quickly identified three males Police will allege were engaged in violent conduct and arson.

“All three, aged 42, 37 and 23,  have been charged with arson, armed with an offensive weapon at night, engage in violent conduct and aggravated assault.”

Superintendent Fry said the incident is part of a long standing conflict between family groups.

“Police have been working with other agencies and stakeholders in an endeavour to resolve issues and keep people safe on their communities.

“An estimated $60,000 damage was caused to the five cars.

“Extra Police will remain in Ti Tree while investigations continue and more arrests from the incident are expected.”

The three men will face Court in Ti Tree today.
